It is just a simple thing that one must drink water when he or she is thirsty and should not when not thirsty. There is no such thing as eight glasses of water are compulsory for good health.
3. Back ache should be treated with bed rest
Bed rest can prevent the lower back from fully recovering and delay the recovery significantly. Patients who continue to engage in ordinary activities recover faster. It usually has fewer problems with recurring pain and other back troubles. Many studies have shown that not only back problems but also other problems are due to constant bed rest.
4. Eating Turkey induces sleep in humans
This is one of the most common myths that is heard of. Not only turkey, it is also said that full stomach can lead to lousiness and laziness and ultimately put the person to sleep. But actually, chicken and ground beef contain almost identical quantities of tryptophan as turkey does.Other foods such as cheese and pork contain significantly more of the chemical than turkey. Turkey appears at very large meals and is often eaten during the day rather than the evening which gives a reason for the myth. The heavy meals lows blood flow which can cause drowsiness and sleep.
5. Baby teething causes fever
No correlation at all is shown between fever and teething by scientific studies. If your baby is suffering from a new tooth and they also have a fever, it is advisable to check for other causes of the fever. The same is true of diarrhea. It is said to have the same reason of teething in infants.Children should be taken good care of when it comes to fever as they have less immunity to fight with germs and are more prone to viruses and bacteria.
6. Cold climate can cause sickness
This myth is the most common one around the world. People are no more likely to get sick after sniffing cold germs than they are at more comfortable temperatures. Some scientists speculate that colds are more common in cooler months. This is because people stay indoors more which means more interaction with one another and giving more germs to each other.
7. Vaccines can cause flu
The biggest myth of all time is that you can catch a flu from a vaccine. It inhibits many people from thinking about getting their influenza injection. There is no way that the shot will give you an influenza virus which will make you ill. The reason many might believe that the vaccine can cause the flu is that people tend to get the flu vaccine in winters, and then catch a cold from someone else. Instead of spending money over proving again and again that vaccines do not cause flu, it should be spent on something notable and useful such as cure for autism and other ailments.
8. Chocolate can cause Acne
Chocolate and greasy foods do not cause acne. Acne is caused by three main factors:overproduction of oil called sebum, irregular shedding of dead skin cells and a buildup of bacteria. There is no scientific link to diet and acne but one should not overeat because t might have other adverse effects.
9. Mid-night snacks lead to weight gain
The myth about gaining weight from eating late at night are just plain false. Even if you eat a bowl full of ice cream or grab a cheese cube, it will not make you fat overnight. Scientists have conducted several studies over the years to dispel this myth. The results show that eating late at night does not increase one’s chance of gaining weight more than any other time of the day. Late-night eating after eating the normal caloric intake during the day may cause weight gain.
10. Swallowed Gum Stays in the Stomach for Seven Years
The truth can be hard to digest, but the rumor about gum staying in your stomach for seven years is false. The power of the digestive system is very high . The body breaks down the gum just like every other food you ingest. The body extracts materials that it can use and sends the rest out in the stool, during the digestion process. But, the body cannot digest the synthetic ingredients of gum, so it is passed into the small intestine and then into the colon.
